Events

Annually the GRHCC sponsors three major events on their calendar that include the Installation of Officers and Awards Banquet (January), the Scholarship Banquet (May), and the Legislative Luncheon (September). The installation banquet continues to the a well attended event that recognizes the Hispanic Business of the Year, Corporate Business Partner of the Year, and various individuals for their community service. The event boasts a wide range of speakers from Ruth Lopez Williams – CEO of an imagining systems company in the health field to Ruben Barales, Deputy Assistant in Governmental Relations to the President of the United States.

One of the strongest elements of the GRHCC is the Education Committee that has initiated community partnerships resulting in the awarding of over 20 scholarships totaling over $20,000 to high school graduates from Riverside. Three years ago an exciting partnership developed between Kaiser Permanente and other health providers to develop a scholarship specifically for students currently enrolled in nursing programs. In 2003 another exciting partnership has been established with the vocational industry to offer scholarships in Microsoft Programs, Computer Repair, and Computerized Bookkeeping Accounting.

The Legislative Luncheons have featured an exciting array of speakers such as State Attorney General Bill Lockyer, Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante, and the State Secretary of Transportation, María Contreras-Sweet. These luncheons provide a stimulating venue for legislative updates and discussion affecting the greater Riverside area, the state of California and the Nation.
